Overview

Localization was the product

TJT delivers curated, high-end content for GCC audiences — particularly affluent millennials and Gen Z who want exclusivity, brand heritage, and investment value. The gap was real: most luxury platforms were Western-centric and missed the storytelling nuance a GCC audience actually responds to.

02

Define

Three goals had to move together — reader trust, advertiser confidence, and a UX that felt as exclusive as the product it covered.

Problem Statement

GCC users lacked a luxury jewelry and watches platform that combined exclusivity, cultural resonance, and a modern digital experience.

Business goals

Readership, advertisers, authority

Increase readership, attract advertisers, and position TJT as the go-to luxury authority in the Arab world.

UX goals

Exclusivity, trust, engagement

Communicate exclusivity, build trust, and keep users engaged longer with interactive, video-first content.

03

Ideate

An Arabic-first information architecture, built around how a Gen Z GCC reader actually discovers and shares content — not how a Western magazine typically structures itself.

Structure

Arabic-first IA

Grouped into Brands, Watches, Jewelry, Market Insights, and Stories — with optimized paths for discovery, deep-dive, and engagement.

Content strategy

Video-first storytelling

Interviews revealed Gen Z's preference for video over long-form text — so the format led with video, not against it.

Reflection

What this project reinforced

Localization isn't a translation layer bolted on at the end — it's a design input from day one. The same content performed differently by country, and the only honest answer was to personalize the default rather than pick a single "right" version. Is localization the key to a successful user experience? For this audience, yes.
